Event closing - A whirlwind adventure...

On the day

All the information you need to ensure that race day goes smoothly!

Travel and Parking

From the A3 (North, South or East)

Leave the A3 where signs refer to Clanfield, Chalton, Butser Hill, East Meon and Hambledon. If travelling north, please follow the slip road round to the left and join Chalton Lane. If travelling south, please follow the slip road to the left all the way round and back over the A3 turning left at the roundabout to join Chalton Lane.

After just over a mile, you'll arrive at the Rising Sun Inn where you can follow directions to parking at Clanfield Junior School (50m up East Meon Road). The Race HQ, the 1k and 2k race starts and all race finish points are on South Lane Meadow (which is 500 metres down South Lane from the Rising Sun, on the left).

From the West

From the A32, take the exit east toward Clanfield on the B2150 signposted Denmead. Follow the B2150 for 2.5 miles turning left onto Brook Road (Signposted for Clanfield and Hambledon Vineyard). Follow for 1.3 miles and turn left at the end onto East Street (signposted Clanfield and East Meon). Follow East Street for 2.5 miles into Clanfield and continue to the bottom of the Hill.

For parking on South Lane Meadow (The Race HQ, the 1k and 2k race starts and all race finish points), turn right at the junction and it is just over 200metres along South Lane on the left.

For sat-navs

Please set your sat nav either to PO8 0RY.

Parking

Ample free parking will be available on the day at South Lane Meadow, Clanfield Memorial Hall and Clanfield Junior School. Parking attendants and volunteers will be present on the day to direct you to the best parking location.
NOTE: Please do not park on South Lane as this is a busy road through Clanfield which will need to stay clear for runners and normal traffic.

If you are running with friends or loved ones, we ask that you share cars where possible to avoid any congestion or disruptions to the local community on the morning of the race.

A full list of our stands and stalls can be found in the Our Supporters section.

Local amenities

There are a number of local shops, pubs and restaurants should be looking for last minute purchases or places to eat/drink after the event.

For a full list of local businesses please see the Clanfield Online Directory.

Registration

We expect registration to be spread over two days like previous years, it would be very helpful if any runners who live in or close to Clanfield take up the option of early registration on the Saturday before race day to ease congestion on the day. If you are a family competing in several races, one family member can collect all registrations.

The registration on the saturday before race day will be from 10:00 to 14:00 at the Clanfield Sports and Community Centre off Green Lane (post code PO8 0YF). There is parking and café facilities at the centre.

The remaining race numbers will be available for collection on the day at South Lane Meadow, post code PO8 0RY starting at 08:00 and closing at 10:30.

If you have any medical conditions that you are aware of please inform us before the race and write you condition down on the back of your race number.

The chips for the race timing are not attached to the race number this year, and will need to be attached to the runners shoe with ties provided. These will be given to you at registration along with your number.

To ease congestion on the finish line, t-shirts in the pre-ordered size will be given to each runner when registering, by showing your number at the t-shirt station on Saturday or Sunday.

Entries on the day will not be accepted.

Race day FAQ

Should you need more information, our Frequently Asked Questions should answer them - otherwise, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Medical Assistance

First Aid posts are situated at the start / finish area.

IF YOU EXPERIENCE DIFFICULTY - STOP RUNNING AND SEEK OUT THE NEAREST MARSHAL AND REQUEST HELP.

A vehicle will be available to pick up entrants who are unable to complete the course and will return them to the start/finish area. If you do drop out it is important you assist us by reporting your name and race number to one of our marshals.

If you have any medical conditions that you are aware of please inform us before the race and write you condition down on the back of your race number.

Spectators

The best places to watch the race is at the 1k/2k start/all race finish within the South Lane meadow grounds, although we would recommend cheering on the start of the 5k and 12k race on North Lane, Clanfield.

However, there is also excellent viewing throughout the course along the South Downs Way, at the Sustainability Centre or on Hambledon Road.

For safety please keep off the road, follow the instructions of the marshals, and do not obstruct the runners or race officials. Please give every runner your warm support.

Toilets

Portable toilets will be available onsite at South Lane Meadow.

Limited facilities are available in the Memorial Hall. There are also public toilets at the Rising Sun pub, just past the church, approaching the junction in old Clanfield.

Changing/Bag drop

Limited changing facilities will be available in Clanfield Memorial Hall (if needed).

The bag drop facility will be on South Lane Meadow, with all activities and entertainment the 1k and 2k runs and the finish line for all races.

We would advise that most runners come prepared, ready for the race to ease the use of these facilities.

Safety

Headsets/Headphones are not recommended to be worn on any of the Clanfield Challenge routes. It is crucial that you are able to hear directions from Race Marshalls and Volunteers.

Please look after one another and report an incident to a marshall as soon as you become aware of any accident or injury.
