Ready to rock school

The Clanfield Challenge not only attracts the best of our local runners but also some of our best local musical talent too.

Clanfield resident, top rock vocalist, Mark Thompson-Smith, is bringing along some of his Ready To Rock School Collective 'big guns' to perform on South Meadow, namely the mighty LUCKY 13, groovesters FUNKY TOWN, new kids on the block THE J.A.R. and the engaging KIRSTEN PETHER just turned 15

LUCKY 13, formed in 2013 by four young students from Portsmouth's Ready To Rock School, are causing quite a stir with their impressive original songs and high energy performances.

Cutting their teeth on playing the local pub circuit for the past three and a half years, with full evening weekend shows, the band have been making significant inroads on the local original music scene with appearances at Victorious Festival 2014 (opening slot at the Casemates Stage), Edge Of The Wedge 2015, The Wedgewood Rooms Showcase Final 2015(runners up), Ice Breaker Festival 2016 and a return to Victorious Festival last year headlining the RADWEB Stage.

This remarkable band of excellent young musicians, average age of 16 and led by stellar vocalist/guitarist Ella Payne, continues to grow in stature, gaining fantastic reactions and fulsome admiration from all who see them!

FUNKY TOWN, a newly formed 5 piece function band from Portsmouth and the surrounding area, brings back the groove and delivers an array of tasteful funk and brilliant crafted soul songs, executed by young and fruity musicians both in personality and performance!

RTR School is represented again with former students, the irrepressible Rya Baker leading the band, local Clanfield drum star, Connor Griffiths and top student and former tutor, Olly Browning, along with Dan Baker and Ben Ysellmuiden completing the line up....welcome to Funky Town!!

THE J.A.R. are the latest and youngest band to come out of the Havant branch of Ready To Rock School and consist of three young rockers, average age of 13, who have already gained experience playing shows locally including Southsea's legendary Wedgewood Rooms last December.

The ever smiling Riley Hawley is on guitar and vocals and joins Horndean boys, Albert Trevellick on bass and drummer Jake Simmons, for a highly charged performance.....prepare to be amazed!

Kirsten Pether is just turned 15 but great potential. She's already sung live on Express FM with Matt, one of the RTR guitar tutors.
